Teams Postings:
1. Find an image that literally or metaphorically reflects a gender/racial/age/economic/other gap in society and write an explanation of the image. Example HERE
>Sample write-up to go with gender gap image: In this image of a man and a woman sitting down for pie, I believe that it is making a statement about how women often get less of the pie in a professional work setting. I think this because the man is stereo-typically wearing a red tie to show power and a women in wearing a pear necklace to show that they are in competition for a business related profession. The pie symbolizes that fact that women often begin with less of the pie or in other words, less opportunity to achieve the same success in the workplace. I believe that this "gap" in society will only begin to close in the business world, as more women stand up for their rights and fight their way to the top where they can influence change. It is not right, but as young women see that there are other women of power in leadership roles, they will be inspired to reach for similar goals and have more confidence to know it is possible. (5/5)
2. Practicing your research skills: Find an article or story or video about empowerment or that reflects a positive initiative/accomplishment/story about a person or group of people achieving "The American Dream" or overcoming the "Gaps" presented by society. Summarize the article. Expand on it's effectiveness to empower others through example and use evidence (quote) to support your opinion. Conclude by explaining the purpose of the article or story and whom you think the intended audience was?
