Choice Novel: Research all of the "Book Club" options books from the class and write down the title of each. Then try to find a review of the novel and even a preview of the first chapter or text to try and find out the style and voice of the author. Briefly describe what the novel is about and how it connects to one or all of our themes this semester. Rank your interest in the novel out of 5. Put all of these at the back of your journal. THEN...see if you can find the price to purchase the digital version of 3 of the novels you are interested in a write the name of the site where you can purchase it and the price. Do the same for the audible version of the novels.
***For your actual journal choose the novel you prefer to read and explain why it is your number one choice. You will be posting this on the Teams chat.

What are different characteristics of Human Nature. *Make a list of as many as you can and put them into a positive or negative trait list as you see fit. (Be able to explain and share with the class)
Notes: Watch the Human Nature video and start a list of human nature characteristics. Create a column for negative and positive and try to put each characteristic down the chart as you see fit. (We will brainstorm concepts as a class) Then add to your list!

Do YOU think it is effective? Do you think others take it seriously? Does talk without action actually affect change? Explain your personal reaction and if you would actually wear a shirt like this in public or to school to take a stand on something you care about.
Alternative option journal - Speak to the Orange shirt day as a form of protest and it's effectiveness. What is the intension of wearing the shirt and has it brought awareness and education to you over the years? Is there anything more we could/should do?

Are you a Flight, Fight or Freeze kind of person? Describe your rational and make a personal connection by explaining a specific experience you had that reflected this particular action/quality. WHY do you think you are typically this way? Reference a specific piece of information from the video and/or article that you can connect with. What do you do as a strategy to deal with times in your life that you feel stressed, anxious, or scared?
J7) COVER LETTER PRACTICE
a) Create a list of 10 of your best qualities /attributes/ experiences you would want an employer to know about. (Then circle 3-5 of them that would pertain to the potential job descriptions below. /
b) Write a rough copy of a LETTER that highlights your best qualities and strengths as an individual as if you were applying to work for Mr. Neuendorff as his part time assistant. (Make it look like a cover letter and fill ONE page.)
***Do a cover letter search and read a couple of examples. PAY ATTENTION TO THE STRUCTURE of the examples.
Job Description = Helping to manage the soccer teams, doing landscaping at his 3 acre property on weekends from 7am to 1pm (snow shovelling/cutting grass/weeding the garden/painting), helping Mr. N mark quizzes and journals after school school OR being the weekly babysitter for his two young children after school and on Saturday nights for 6 hours.
PAY = 15 dollars an hour PLUS a monthly bonus for being punctual and completing ALL desired tasks.
Hours = Approx. 10-15 hours a week.
